Research in the Microcosm of Music

PYTHAGORAS

  Physician, musicologist, mathematician,
founder of our scientific age
he created the pre-conditions
for utilising
harmonically structured music
in medicine.
This is an ancient dream of mankind which we can discover in all known advanced cultures. And also in our European cultural area, the great Greek scholar Pythagoras already pointed out the fact approx. 500 years before Christ that a single tone has a varied and diverse inner life, an inner natural structural development.

And he claimed that the laws of harmony, which determine the natural evolution of this tone, were identical with those of biological life and the evolution of the cosmos.1

In his famous school for the training of learned physicians, Pythagoras himself used and taught two methods for the realisation and analysis of the microcosm of music, firstly:

the way of intuition: the inner mental, spontaneous understanding of the microcosm of music and the fine tone developments it possesses: the immediate inner creative experience of listening to the natural laws of harmony of the microcosm of music in operation 2

and also:

the way of empirical realisation through outer scientific technical sound analysis
